Staff & Volunteers Recognized at Annual Meeting

Employee and Volunteer Events

Annually we recognize volunteers who help the homeless. Volunteers are a very important part of the culture at the Coalition. We believe that one of the significant reasons a person decides to change their life is because someone has shown that they really do care and believe in them. We thank all of our many volunteers for there selfless gifts of time and talent to helping someone in need.

Mickey Leland House, Roger Kemp and  LaToya Davenport from the U.S. Attorney's Office, provided workshops and seminars to the clients at Mickey Leland House. Arthur Rochee, Program Director stated that it is refreshing to meet and work with two professionals who are committed to making things better for everyone.

Emery Work Bed Program

The staff at Emery nominated Fathers Forward for the 2017 Volunteer Service Award in recognition of their leadership and continued efforts in strengthening fathers and child engagement. Fathers Forward also provided supportive services towards the Employment component of the Emery Work Bed Program  by helping move our clients towards self-sufficiency

Gary Henderson, Transportation Driver, was chosen as the Coalition’s 2017 Employee of the Year based on his outstanding service, dedication, and commitment to the mission of the Coalition and the homeless individuals and families we serve.

One of Gary’s jobs is to train clients and this helps build the client's confidence and their journey to achieve independence. Gary is patient and often works along-side clients to show them how to complete tasks; this kind of interaction helps build the clients’ confidence.  Gary represents the Coalition well in the community and has received great comments on the quality of his work and his great attitude. He has a great sense of humor. His favorite saying around the office – which always gets a chuckle - is “I do more before 7:00 am than the average person does all day.”
