Nancy Gephart has been on the Coalition Board of Directors since 2017 and currently serves as the chair of the Program Committee. She enjoys working with the board and Coalition’s amazing staff and leveraging her background in nonprofits and finance, to reduce homelessness in DC.
In her day job Nancy is a Partner and leads the Capital Markets team at Shift Capital, a social impact real estate developer based in Philadelphia. The shift is vertically integrated and invests in both places and people, in order to create inclusive, equitable communities that thrive. It owns roughly 2 million square feet of real
estate throughout the Mid-Atlantic, and Nancy is responsible for capitalizing these assets and creating financial and strategic roadmaps for future growth. For this work, Nancy was named Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2020 Rising Star of the Year and a Next City Vanguard Fellow.
Prior to joining Shift, she worked at Capital Impact Partners, a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) lending to healthcare, education, healthy food, and mixed-use projects nationwide. She deployed over $100MM to impactful real estate projects and led CIP’s healthy food and DC housing strategies. She has also previously worked for the Michigan Social Venture Fund, a mission-driven venture capital fund, and a public-private partnership with the World Wildlife Fund in Lao PDR.
Nancy holds a BA in Political Science from Williams College and an MBA and MS from the University of Michigan. She also served as a founding Board Member of the Kensington Corridor Trust, a community-controlled real estate trust, and resides in Philadelphia.
