Why make a donation to the Coalition for the Homeless?

The Coalition is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Your donation supports our mission to help transition homeless and at-risk individuals to self-sufficiency through housing programs and supportive services. We provide a safe environment, temporary housing and supportive services for men who are experiencing homelessness. Everyone needs a little help sometimes.

What does your money support?

Your money supports direct services to homeless individuals. 92 cents of every dollar received goes toward direct services, which include food, shelter, substance abuse counseling, employment and housing placement assistance.

How is your donation processed?

The Coalition uses a reliable third-party payment network to process on-line donations. All transactions conducted on this web site are encrypted using a secure server to protect your privacy. The Coalition for the Homeless does not rent or sell your information to other charities

 


Coalition for the Homeless, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization registered with the Internal Revenue Service/Department of the Treasury. Therefore, all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. All donors receive an acknowledgment letter that includes a confirmation of their donation for their tax records.

The Story of Wilbert Akins and his daughter

Mr. Wilbert Atkins was unemployed and lived between family members and homeless shelters. When Mr. Atkins gained custody of his daughter Sasha, she became Mr. Atkins motivation to improve his life. Mr. Atkins and his daughter entered the 50th Street Family Program on January 12, 2015. In January 2018, after receiving supportive services from the Coalitions’ 50th Street Family Program for over a year, Wilbert Atkins, a single father, and his daughter Sasha moved into permanent affordable housing. They love their new place and Sasha is doing well in school. Mr. Atkins stated that he feels like a man again and a productive father.  He works full-time as an Information Technology technician at the Office of Chief Technology Officer (OCTO).  Today, this family is safe, warm and self-sufficient.
