Lucho Vásquez, LICSW
Executive Director
Luis “Lucho” Vásquez has been the Executive Director of the Coalition for the Homeless since February 2025. Lucho is a native of Washington, DC. He received a bachelor’s degree from Catholic University and a Master of Social Work degree from Howard University. He holds a clinical social work license in the District of Columbia and has worked to help people who are unhoused and living with behavioral health conditions for over 25 years.
Lucho has provided senior and executive leadership at the city, regional and national levels – establishing and directing human service efforts to address critical social issues. These efforts have included initiating and leading a city-wide psychiatric mobile crisis program, overseeing a regional network of homeless service programs (which assisted 10,000 people annually), and administering federal programs that provided behavioral health care in all U.S. states and territories.
For his work supporting and advocating for people who are vulnerable and underserved, Lucho has received recognition from the Catholic University of America, the DC Metropolitan Police Department, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and Washingtonian Magazine.
