If you’re 18 or older. male or identify as male, and currently facing homelessness in the District of Columbia, Emery provides emergency shelter with supportive social services. The shelter provides 130 beds on a nightly basis, as well as access to case management services, showers, and food. Anyone eligible can take advantage of these services. Intake services start at 7:00 pm nightly.
The Coalition for the Homeless manages the building and collaborates with the KBEC Group.
Living Life Alternative’s Program is the District of Columbia’s first LGBTQ+ Low Barrier shelter serving homeless individuals of the LGBTQ+ community. The shelter provides case management services, job readiness training, life skills classes, psychosocial support, and health and wellness support. For more information, please visit their website.
The Coalition assumed operation of the homeless shelter, Eve’s Place, in May of 2024 at the request of The Community Partnership. Eve’s Place holds a capacity of 40 women with entry starting promptly at 7:00 p.m. and checkout at 6:00 a.m. Food services (i.e. dinner, a snack, and breakfast) are provided by Henry’s Soul Cafe. The shelter remains open during the day — and on weekends — when citywide heat emergencies are activated. Transportation to the shelter is available through the United Planning Organization.
