Retired Assistant Director
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC)
Doris Washington joined the Coalition of the Homeless (CFH) Board of Advisors after volunteering for a major fundraiser IN 1993. In 1997, she was elected Board Secretary, and from 2006 to 2013, she served as Board Chair. Doris’ longtime involvement with the Coalition coincided with her career as an executive and manager in the federal government’s housing and financial services sectors.
Homelessness was a natural interest of hers. Doris firmly believes collaborations enhance CFH’s impact with corporations, businesses, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations. She organized the Coalition’s first Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair with local elected officials, trade associations, and employers.
Additionally, she led initiatives that strengthened the CFH’s strategic planning, development, and fundraising programs. Ms. Washington also served on a nonprofit board that provides housing to developmentally disabled persons. She continues her work toward expanding cultural literacy through the arts.
